Here, in a short stretch east of Central Park, world-class museums are literally at every turn. It all starts with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the largest art collection in the Western Hemisphere, where you can easily spend several days, one of which can be devoted entirely to the exhibitions.
The Metropolitan is the only museum located directly in Central Park. Further north, to the northern edge of Central Park, there is a museum on almost every street: the Barrio Museum on 104th Street, the Museum of New York on 103rd, the Jewish Museum on 92nd, the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum on 91st, the Academy of Art on 89th, the Guggenheim Museum on 88th, and the Neue Galerie on 86th.
The most architecturally interesting of these institutions is the Guggenheim Museum, which is worth a visit even if the exhibition on display there is not particularly interesting to you or you have already seen it in another city. To the south, the line of Museum Mile is joined by the Whitney Museum of American Art, which stands a little apart, on Madison Avenue at the level of Seventy-fifth Street, and the Frick Collection on Seventieth Street.

In the morning, transfer to the train station for departure to Washington (you can choose a regional or high-speed train, travel time from 2.5 hours to 3.5 hours depending on the train). Upon arrival in Washington, your personal guide will meet you at the train station. At the end of the 4-hour private tour of Washington, you will be transferred back to the station for the return to New York.
